The conflict in The Fault In Our Stars is when Augustus and Hazel go to Amsterdam to meet Peter Van Houten. They were so excited to meet him, but were upset by his character when they finally did. He was an alcoholic who could barely hold up a conversation. Peter was not nice to Hazel or Augustus and some what ruined their trip. The whole point of the trip was to figure out what happened at the end of An Imperial Affliction, but they never did. Augustus and Hazel were still curious about the end, but they had no way of figuring it out.
Another conflict in The Fault In Our Stars is when Hazel feels herself getting to attached to Augustus and begins to push him away. She does not want to have to deal with another death of a person she loves dearly. Hazel knows that if she gets to attached to him and it does not end well, she will be shattered in the end.
